Pinnacle Conservation has been appointed as the main contractor for the next chapter in the life of 1 Museum Street, York.
This Grade II listed building, designed by Rawlins Gould in 1860, has served many roles—from the city’s register office to a Conservative Club, council offices, and most recently, York’s tourist information centre. Its architectural character—orange brick, stone dressings, sash windows, Doric pilasters, and a sweeping staircase—tells a story ofpride and evolving purpose.
Our upcoming works will sensitively enhance and adapt the building for future use, including: • New internal openings and partitions • Alterations to existing layouts • Refurbishment of original timber windows and doors • Installation and restoration of joinery, skirting, and secondary glazing • Redecoration, repairs, and new flooring • A new mezzanine structure and balustrades
We’re honoured to be entrusted with this historic space in the heart of York, and look forward to delivering a scheme that respects its legacy while enabling new possibilities.
